A 3-year PhD Scholar position is available at Kadir Has University, Istanbul, within the Network Oriented-Dynamics and Data Science (NODDS – nodds.khas.edu.tr) Lab, this position part of the project BeyondTheEdge; more information and eligibility criteria can be found on the project website BeyondTheEdge.network.

The position, with a duration of up to 36 months, involves active participation in the research activities of the NODDS Lab and contribution to the development of the BeyondTheEdge, focusing on the "Reconstruction of Emergent Higher-Order Networks from Data." The project aims to pioneer methods for reconstructing hypernetworks from data using tools from the fields of dynamical systems and machine learning, specifically applied to neural systems.

The position offers an EU MSCA Doctoral Networks contract and involves collaboration with various groups within the BeyondTheEdge Project Team located across Europe. The role is based in Istanbul and requires mobility, with applicants not having resided or conducted their main activity in Turkey for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately before the recruitment date.

Motivated candidates are encouraged to apply with expertise in one or more of the following areas: dynamics, network science, machine learning and theoretical neuroscience.

Applicants must:

  • Be proficient in both written and spoken English.
  • Have a strong technical background in mathematics, physics, or computer science.
  • Hold a Master's degree or equivalent (already completed or to be completed by October 2024).

BeyondTheEdge project: The role of non-pairwise higher-order interactions in the emergence of complex dynamical behavior within networks of interacting units will be identified in the BeyondTheEdge project. This project unites essential researchers in an international interdisciplinary network. BeyondTheEdge aims to develop a cohort of 10 PhD students, providing them with research opportunities, educational experiences, and complementary skills training. This comprehensive approach will empower the PhD students to innovate, collaborate effectively, and ultimately emerge as leading professionals in their field. |LS|Funding for this project has been secured from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No Grant Agreement No. 101120085|RS|.
